2022 Dodge Challenger vs Ford Mustang

In the 2022 model year, both models have mind-boggling horsepower and performance that is nothing short of world-class. Choosing one of these legendary American muscle cars is challenging. 2022 Dodge Challenger Power & Handling
The Dodge Challenger has an extensive engine lineup that lines itself parallel to the trim level lineup. A 3.6L V6 comes standard under the hood of the SXT and GT trims, offering 303 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission powering the rear wheels, while all-wheel drive is exclusively optional to these trims. Stepping up to the R/T trim gets you a 375-horsepower 5.7L HEMI V8 with 410 lb-ft of torque. Taking it one step further is the Scat Pack trim with a 6.4L HEMI V8, offering 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. The R/T and Scat Pack come standard with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the automatic is optional. The top three trim levels, Hellcat, Hellcat Redeye, and Super Stock, employ the legendary supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8. For horsepower, the Hellcat gets 717, the Hellcat Redeye offers 797, and the Super Stock comes with 807 horsepower. The Hellcat gets 656 lb-ft of torque, while the Hellcat Redeye and Super Stock offer 707.
2022 Ford Mustang Power & Handling
Like the Challenger, the Mustang’s engines coincide with the trim lineup. The base engine is a 2.3L turbocharged I-4 engine with 310 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the GT trim comes with a 5.0L V8 engine that supplies 450 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. This same engine is tuned for the Mach 1 trim for 470 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. The last available engine is a 5.2L supercharged V8 exclusive to the GT500 trim level, offering 760 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard for the Mustang. However, a 10-speed automatic transmission is optional. However, the GT500 comes with a 7-speed automatic transmission. Like the Challenger, rear-wheel drive is the standard drivetrain. However, the Mustang does not have an all-wheel-drive option at any trim level.
2022 Dodge Challenger Features & Design
While Dodge has been chasing the dream of being the fastest and most powerful muscle car, they have not forgotten about style and comfort. One of the most loved things about the Challenger is its modern design that embraces its heritage. Using the slim, forward-leaning grille and round headlights, the Challenger’s front end reminds onlookers of the models of old. Meanwhile, the low and wide stance, LED daytime running lights, and sharp lines give it a modern look. Standard features include power-adjustable heated side mirrors, 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry/ignition, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, houndstooth cloth upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, AndroidAuto/Apple CarPlay, heated/cooled front seats, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Performance features for the Scat Pack and all following trims include line lock, launch control, Active Exhaust, Brembo high-performance brakes, SRT Drive Modes, SRT Performance Pages, and more.
2022 Ford Mustang Features & Design
The Mustang wears its American muscle heritage on its sleeve as with the Challenger. An aggressive road presence supports its power, featuring the same long sculpted hood, swooping roofline, short trunk, slim headlight housings, and sharp edges on the sides. Other standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels, HID headlights, LED taillights with sequential turn signals, a 4.2-inch infotainment touchscreen, cloth upholstery, smartphone integration, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Higher Mustang trim levels add Brembo brakes, leather upholstery, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, 18 or 19-inch wheels, and an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen.
