2023 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer L Revealed

The very first thing you’ll notice about the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer L is the size difference, as can be seen in the photo above. The overall length of the Wagoneer was increased by a whopping twelve inches! This stretched the overall length to 226.7 inches. To make room for the extra length, the wheelbase was lengthened by seven inches, bringing it to 130 inches. As a result of the added length, the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer L have a lot of interior measurements that lead the class. For instance, behind the third row, you can find 44.2 cubic feet of cargo space, which is the best in class. The lineup also leads the class in passenger volume with a mind-boggling 179.3 cubic feet. The 42.7 inches of second-row legroom also leads the class. Additionally, third-row occupants are accommodated by 36.6 inches of legroom. All eight passengers of the Wagoneer L are kept comfortable, even while bringing cargo along!

The 2022 Wagoneer was introduced with a 5.7-liter V8 engine, while the Grand Wagoneer used a V8 with a 6.4-liter displacement. While these engines provide plenty of power, larger engines use more fuel. To add more fuel efficiency without sacrificing power, the 2023 Wagoneer lineup employs a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 cylinder engine which the brand is calling Hurricane. Using a smaller engine reduces fuel consumption while the two turbochargers provide plenty of power for any driving occasion. The Wagoneer uses the standard-output Hurricane engine which delivers 420 horsepower and 468 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the Grand Wagoneer models use the high-output Hurricane, delivering 510 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. This makes both models even more powerful than the 2022 models while also increasing fuel efficiency by up to 15%. The transmission stays the same for the 2023 models, using the smooth and robust TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic. Meanwhile, rear-wheel drive is standard for the Wagoneer lineup while Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II, and Quadra-Drive II with an electronic limited-slip rear differential are available. Quadra-Trac I, however, comes standard with the Grand Wagoneer.

The excitement of the 2023 Wagoneer lineup doesn’t begin with the larger model or new engine. 2023 also brings a new trim level! The Wagoneer Carbide Edition is the dark side of the Wagoneer family, adding a striking, blacked-out appearance inside and out. The exterior adds Diamond Black to the front and rear fascias and door flares. Meanwhile, the roof rack, headlight rings, mirror appliques, and sill cladding are covered in Gloss Black. The interior adds Global Black doors, instrument paneling, and seats. The seats also have a contrasting Smoke accent stitching. Other features include a black headliner and a three-pane panoramic sunroof. The Carbide Edition will be available for the 2022 Wagoneer models in the second half of 2022, while available for all 2023 models.
