Cadillac CTS vs Dodge Charger

Cadillac CTS

Dodge Charger

They are called "high performance sedans" and "four-door sports cars." You know what we're talking about. If speed and agility are important to you and you want a four-door sedan, you'll want one of these. Two of the top ranked cars you'll find in this special class are the Cadillac CTS and the Dodge Charger. Let's see what independent review sites have to say about how they compare.

You don't have to look far down the list in Autobytel's Top 10 Highpower Sedans to find either of them.  The 2017 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat RWD is ranked #1.  They note the standard features of this version of the Charger include a 707hp supercharged engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission.  Only a step behind (but still behind) is the Cadillac CTS-V Base.  Like the Charger it has an 8-speed automatic transmission but with a 640hp engine.

In Best 4-Door Sports Cars US News & World Report puts the Charger at the top of the list and again is followed by the CTS.  They also like the SRT Hellcat version of the Charger but say " ... if the SRT Hellcat is beyond the budget, no one will scoff at the Charger R/T Scat Pack or SRT 392 models, both of which make 485 horsepower."

I think we're starting to see a pattern: in Highest Horsepower Sedans of 2017 Kelley Blue Book puts the Charger at #1 followed by the CTS. Amazing horsepower in both of these cars.  Wouldn't be your first choice for gas mileage ratings but that's not why you'd buy one of these.

Crank and Piston offers a more colorful comparison in Cadillac CTS-V vs Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat. They get us started with comments like, "The precise albeit lunatically-powered approach of the CTS-V against the more theatrical power delivery of the Hellcat is an apt example of their respective characters."  And they even focus on how the sound of these two super engines compare, "Even more so than the difference in styles through the corners, it's the soundtrack of each bruiser that stays with me. The CTS-V for instance, more focused as the package is on premium quality, features impressive sound deadening in the cabin, the height of the engine notes coming through via the high pitched tones of the supercharger. With the Charger though, the supercharger's whine resonates, but it's coupled with the basy, scintillating notes of that HEMI V8, one the Caddy struggles to match. The CTS-V's soundtrack is a good one. But the Hellcat's is just phenomenal." In the end, they don't declare a winner but they obviously enjoyed the experience of the test drives.

In conclusion, if you want high performance then numbers matter.  The Charger beats the CTS in horsepower and torque.  So if you want high performance, you want the Dodge Charger.  Call Cerritos Dodge today to schedule a test drive of the Dodge Charger..
