Before you hit the trail, you need to ensure that your Jeep is in good working condition. You need to ensure that your tires, including your spare, are inflated correctly and that the tread is in excellent condition. Having good tires will ensure that your Jeep can handle the rough terrain of the off-road, plus any slippery road surfaces. While your tires are essential, it's not the only thing you need to look for. Then there are some basic equipment such as toilet paper, a gaslighter, and a knife which you should also bring.

Never do any outrageous stunts unless you want to leave your Jeep broken and stranded in the middle of nowhere. Save yourself the trouble, and be sure to understand the terrain you are traveling on. You should also mark off any key locations such as towns, bodies of water, gas stations, and restaurants. It's a 14-mile long trail that is a long dirt road with several offshoots that range from easy to difficult, which are perfect for practicing your off-road skills. Though many of these offshoots are steep and full of deep ruts, you can always stay on the road, making it the perfect trail for beginners. Another great trail is the Phillips Loop Calico in Yermo, which takes you on a loop through the beautiful mountains and the historic Calico mining district. Other great trails include the Cajpn Bypass, Old Dale Road, and Lytle Creek Ridge.
